A Bedroom Wall of One’s Own

I think I’ve just found my perfect accent wall.

To Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.

~ John Keats, To Autumn

Gorgeously filmed as it was, I did not love Jane Campion’s Bright Star. However, John Keats’ poetry remains beautiful and ageless… and a perfect hymn to my favourite season.

Autumn has arrived with a vengeance. After months of balmy mid 20’s celsius t-shirt weather, the temperature took a sudden and spectacular plunge into single figures. Leading to a flurry of coats and woollens being unearthed from closets and under beds. But now, it’s settled into a golden crispness, with all the trees turning all the shades of scarlet and saffron and sepia. Winter isn’t far behind but I’m content to enjoy the cosiest, most beautiful (and my favourite!) season in the meantime.

I found this toadstool out walking last week.
